Pay It Forward: The Gardeners at Tend

Consider me an armchair vegetable gardener. I think about growing our own food. I love the idea of growing our own food. But I never have.  I love reading about others who do. I do, however, shop at farmers' markets and I do my best to buy food that is locally grown because I think that is better for our family and for the planet. A blog called "tend" is inspiring me to become more adventuresome with the kinds of vegetables I purchase and prepare for my family.

This ad-free blog, which started in April, now is one of my favorite places on the web to visit. The design and concept are simple: five writers from five different growing zones in the United States contribute to this blog. They post pictures and talk about the various vegetables growing in their gardens. They offer recipes or ideas on how to eat these vegetables.

The post on okra last Thursday inspired me to buy some at our downtown's farmer's market the following day. So check "tend" out!  And leave the ladies a messages about how they've inspired you. And let me know what websites or blogs inspire you to feed your family more healthful food.

This post is in response to Holly @ A Life-Size Catholic Blog, who hosts the Pay it Forward feature every Monday on her blog.

  3. I am definitely going to be a frequent visitor to your highlighted blog. I'm in my second year of trying a real garden, having been a container gardener in the past. It's been a lot of work, but it's starting to pay off. It has really increased my awareness of healthy eating!

Thanks for hooking up with "Pay It Forward"!

  4. @Holly: Glad you like the link. And perhaps I too should start with container gardening...

  5. I miss having a fantastic garden, so viewing that blog site might make me a little sad. Or, maybe I'll be inspired to plan better for next growing season and get hubby on board with changing the way he has ALWAYS had a garden.

Visiting from Holly's Pay it Forward meme.
