What I Meant By Weeding

It's summer, school's out and it's time to take care of the yard and the house again. No, I didn't chop down and trim trees on our property; I hired my "Tree Guy" to do that. Here are the results - after he chopped and trimmed many trees and before he turned them to mulch. I didn't have the sense to shoot "Before" photos, but here are two "During" and I will share "After" too. Our house is 100 years old and it feels like a lot of the trees are, too. What at one time looked lush and bucolic had become overgrown and unsightly.

Right now, we're waiting for my "Tree Guy" to return with his big truck and big helpers. I am grateful he cleared a path out the front door. Our minivan, complete with a new back windshield, cannot park on the driveway!

Well, you know what they say about eggs and omelettes. Buon Appetito!

  1. Looks like my yard! My FIL came and said our yard looked like a jungle. I wasn't offended- it really does. I kind of like it. How else would the kid be able to play "explorer" so realistically??

  2. There is something to be said about an unmanicured yard - and an unmanicured life. One thing we did when the boys were small is to make a swing for the big tree in the front yard. Rope and wood. That $20 swing got hundreds, thousands of swings, including folks who would just walk by for a swing...
