Easter Afternoon in Helyar Woods

My husband and I hadn't been to Helyar Woods together in years. I remember going with our sons when our puggle was a puppy; Greg doesn't remember the last time we walked the woods together and neither do I.

This 43-acre patch of old growth forest sits hard against U.S. Route One in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Easter afternoon seemed the right time to wander these trails.

Brothers and sisters:
Do you not know that a little yeast leavens all the dough?

Clear out the old yeast,
so that you may become a fresh batch of dough,
inasmuch as you are unleavened.

For our paschal lamb, Christ, has been sacrificed.
Therefore, let us celebrate the feast,

not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness,
but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

  1. What a lovely place! And a perfect day for a walk. There's something about the time after Easter mass that calls out to us to come out and hear the message of His glory that all creation sings.
